About the Role
The Wikimedia Foundation is on the lookout for a skilled Data Science Manager to take the helm of our Product Analytics team. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Research and Decision Science, you will oversee a team of talented data scientists dedicated to providing insights that shape our strategies in pursuit of our mission: to ensure everyone can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.
In this pivotal role, you will guide your team in leveraging quantitative data to support our product development initiatives, helping us better understand our users, refine our strategies, and evaluate the impact of new features. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of your team's outputs while fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering accurate quantitative data and insights promptly to inform strategic decisions, product development, and impact assessments, all while maintaining rigor in a fast-paced environment.
- Leading and managing a diverse team of approximately seven data scientists, promoting a culture of trust, collaboration, and empowerment.
- Mentoring team members to enhance their critical thinking, storytelling with data, technical skills, and partnerships with stakeholders.
- Collaborating with the Experiment Platform and Data Engineering teams to build and maintain accessible data products.
- Working closely with product teams, particularly product managers, and colleagues in the Research & Decision Science group to embed data-informed practices throughout product development.
- Driving the continuous enhancement of experimentation and measurement best practices.
Work Location and Availability:
Candidates must reside within the UTC+1 to UTC-8 time zones and be available for critical meetings between 14:00 and 22:00 UTC. Occasional travel for offsites and conferences (up to four times a year) is required.
