Essential Qualifications:Background in Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, or Industrial Design. Proficiency in SolidWorks. Familiarity with essential equipment and tools, including drill press, mill, lathe, etc. Ideal Candidate Profile:Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. A collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in team environments. Goal-oriented with a focus on practical outcomes. Experience in CNC machining, sheet metal work, production environments, or process development is a plus.

BURN Manufacturing is on the lookout for a passionate and mission-driven individual to join our team as a Design Engineering Fellow at our facility in Ruiru, Kenya. In this role, you will be pivotal in shaping the future of clean cooking solutions for East Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop conceptual and detailed designs for innovative, clean-burning cookstoves tailored for the East African market.
  • Conduct research and develop efficient manufacturing processes, including the design of specialized tools for production.
  • Engage in hands-on fabrication activities such as sheet metal forming, welding, and general metal fabrication.
  • Test prototypes and concepts rigorously in both lab and field environments to ensure performance and reliability.
