Director of Hardware Engineering

ResponsibilitiesOversee engineering efforts across Mechanical, Electrical, Firmware, and Manufacturing disciplines for new product development. Act as the Systems Architect for new products, utilizing multi-domain expertise to tackle cross-functional design challenges. Manage sustaining engineering efforts for existing high-volume products. Establish and oversee product development phases, ensuring all phase gate exit criteria are met. Design for high-volume assembly and production while adhering to BOM cost targets. Collaborate with engineering program management to optimize development timelines by leveraging Asia-based manufacturing resources. Develop strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers and manufacturing partners, gaining familiarity with Asian supply chains. Set engineering design, validation, and reliability requirements for new developments. Mentor engineering team members on best practices, prioritization, and documentation. Recruit engineering talent, both contract and full-time, to support our scaling operations. RequirementsMinimum of 10 years of experience in product design for outdoor/wearable consumer electronics, especially in high-volume production (over 100k units).
