Position Overview
The Director of Workforce Development will spearhead the strategic execution of workforce initiatives designed to support the retention and advancement of our current workforce in the hospitality sector. Reporting to the Vice President, this role will focus on designing and implementing effective programs that invest in the ongoing skill development and engagement of our workforce, ensuring a stable future for the lodging industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of the AHLA Foundation’s workforce programs in close collaboration with the development, communications, and membership teams across the AHLA organization. Key tasks include:
- Overseeing full utilization and precise tracking of professional development funding, with assistance from the administrative coordinator.
- Implementing an annual mentorship program for current industry employees, encompassing marketing, content creation, participant selection, and evaluation processes.
- Advancing the registered apprenticeship program while ensuring compliance with federal sub-grant award provisions.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with relevant national organizations aligned with programmatic objectives, collaborating with the leadership team to maintain effective working relationships and track shared activities’ impact.
- Enhance the measurement of workforce development activities and programs, alongside qualitative data collection to support marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives.
- Develop and oversee program budgets, vendor contracts, and reporting requirements in collaboration with finance, legal, and executive team members to ensure effective operations.
- Foster employer engagement throughout Foundation programs in partnership with team members.
- Maintain expertise in current workforce education and development trends to inform all Foundation programs.
- Support the membership-based Human Resources Committee, including agenda preparation, member relations, and meeting facilitation in coordination with Foundation leadership.
