The Opportunity
As the Emergency Preparedness Officer at Hinkley Point C, you will play a vital role in enhancing and upholding emergency protocols across our site. Reporting directly to the Emergency Preparedness Lead, you will ensure that our plans, processes, facilities, and exercises are robust and effective, supporting EDF’s mission toward An Electric Britain.
With a competitive salary starting at £56,000, plus the potential for an annual bonus, this position is fully site-based at Hinkley Point C in Bridgwater, Somerset. You will be working five days a week, closely collaborating with EDF colleagues, contractors, and external emergency responders in a dynamic operational setting.
This role requires a high degree of autonomy, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail. You will build strong professional relationships across the project, enhance your expertise in a major regulated construction environment, and directly contribute to the protection of people, infrastructure, and operations in one of the UK’s most significant energy projects.
Who You Are
We are seeking an organized and confident Emergency Preparedness Officer who thrives in independent work and can effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Experience in the creation, review, and management of formal documentation, plans, and records
- Proven ability to conduct and document risk assessments
- Experience in organizing and managing small projects or initiatives
- Strong ICT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in construction, health and safety, or similarly regulated sectors
- The capability to prioritize effectively and manage workloads with minimal supervision
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining emergency documentation, maps, and response strategies
- Assisting in the planning, execution, and documentation of emergency drills
- Conducting contractor LC11 inspections and collaborating with contractor emergency leads
- Overseeing emergency facilities, equipment, resources, and training documentation
- Gathering and managing emergency preparedness data, statistics, and reports
