The Financial Engineering team within Applied Engineering is dedicated to ensuring that our products are monetized efficiently, catering to the diverse needs and scales of our clients. We work hand-in-hand with the Go-To-Market (GTM) and Finance teams to continuously refine our billing systems and meet evolving internal requirements.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Financial Data Quality efforts. In this role, you will oversee a multidisciplinary team of Software and Data Engineers to maintain the integrity, timeliness, and accuracy of our financial data as we enhance our billing systems and integrate new vendors. Your collaboration with Finance and GTM functions will be crucial to ensure our financial data is reliable and valuable, especially during system architecture changes and scaling.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of the end-to-end financial data quality, ensuring consistency, freshness, and accuracy across billing, revenue, and other financial data streams.
Develop and execute strategies to enhance our systems and data capabilities in-house, minimizing reliance on external vendors while preserving operational integrity.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance and GTM to clarify data requirements, deliver outputs in preferred formats, and ensure data reliability as systems evolve.
Implement monitoring, validation, and observability mechanisms for data quality, enabling swift issue detection and fostering trust in our metrics.
Ensure that our data model and reporting outputs align with operational necessities and finance workflows on a large scale.
Ideal Candidate Profile
You have experience managing teams comprising software engineers focused on core systems and data engineers, particularly in domains where accuracy is critical.
You are passionate about data, viewing it as a product in its own right and capable of serving as a product owner.
You possess strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data concepts, including data modeling, validation, lineage, and reliability.
You have a background in system migrations, reducing vendor dependencies, or integrating various data sources into a cohesive set of metrics.
You communicate effectively with Finance and GTM stakeholders, translating their needs into actionable technical plans and delivering results (e.g., dashboards, curated tables, exports, APIs).
