Alva Energy is at the forefront of developing a cutting-edge 250 MWe steam turbine power plant, delivering innovative power-conversion solutions aimed at enhancing the execution of nuclear power uprate projects. We are seeking an accomplished Engineering Director to lead the engineering processes from initial screening through to design maturity and field execution. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of multi-discipline integration, EPC performance, major equipment technical direction, and stakeholder coordination.
This position merges leadership in power plant systems with project engineering and program oversight. You will manage both the internal Alva engineering team and external engineering contractors/EPC partners, while interfacing directly with site owners and key OEMs/suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the delivery of multi-discipline engineering, ensuring coordination among mechanical, electrical/I&C, and civil/structural engineering.
Lead the integration of plant power systems, guiding the design of modifications and connections to the existing infrastructure.
Manage engineering contractors and EPCs by defining scopes, interfaces, and deliverables; conducting design and progress reviews; and overseeing technical performance, RFIs, design changes, and issue resolution.
Drive the engineering maturity process through stage-gated reviews, from FEL-1 through FEL-3, establishing deliverables, quality standards, and gate reviews.
Develop specifications and evaluate technical deliverables, including drafting and reviewing engineering standards, technical specifications, and contract scopes for EPC and major equipment.
Lead the technical direction for major equipment, including developing specifications for steam turbines, condensers, and feedwater/condensate systems, as well as conducting technical evaluations of vendor proposals and designs.
Translate engineering plans into effective field execution by supporting construction-ready work packaging and execution strategies, and providing engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases.
Build and lead a high-performing engineering team by hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing Alva’s engineering function, while enhancing standards, tools, and operational efficiency for project delivery.
