The Incoming Material Inspector at Nextern in Cartago, Costa Rica, focuses on inspecting materials and raw materials as they arrive at the facility. This work calls for strong metrology skills and experience using measurement tools. The inspector helps ensure that incoming material quality aligns with production needs and meets all specified standards, particularly for dimensional, electrical, and visual workmanship criteria. Supporting good manufacturing and storage practices is a key part of this job.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections on incoming materials and raw materials.
- Support the maintenance of quality indicators.
- Review and assess inspection procedures to confirm material readiness for production.
- Use measurement tools to verify that materials meet required standards before approval.
- Perform studies to evaluate the capability of processes and measurement systems.
- Prepare technical reports, maintain standards records, and complete rejection documentation as needed.
- Set up and run experiments or test equipment under supervision.
- Participate in problem-solving efforts.
- Offer input on equipment and process evaluations.
- Follow safe work practices and keep the work area clean and secure.
- Give and receive constructive feedback as part of daily work.
Enterprise Systems and Software Tools
This position involves daily use of electronic systems and business software. Comfort with these tools is important.
- Database analysis (Excel, pivot tables, Access, VBA scripts, etc.)
- Material and inventory movement systems (ERP, receiving inspection processing, non-conforming material processing, RMA processing, Epicor, etc.)
