YOUR ROLE
As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant at VEG, you will play a crucial role from your first day, providing support to your team, comforting pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience. You will be involved in all aspects of emergency care, from triage to treatment, immersing yourself in a dynamic environment where you can grow your career. Whether your goal is to become a credentialed technician or explore various avenues in veterinary medicine, we support your journey every step of the way.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome patients warmly and assist in triaging incoming cases, ensuring they receive timely care.
- Support treatment and nursing care, including tasks such as bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and administering oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our licensed veterinary technicians and veterinarians to prepare and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage the setup of IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Participate in every aspect of patient care, from outpatient consultations to inpatient treatments.
- Engage in patient rounds to maintain continuity of care.
- Receive training in CPR and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
- Advance your skills and take on more complex responsibilities as you grow in your role.
