About the Team
The Operations Team serves as the backbone for safe and efficient autonomous vehicle testing. We coordinate personnel, vehicles, and daily operations across various test routes and conditions. With an unwavering commitment to safety, performance, and teamwork, our team ensures that each mile driven advances autonomy in a reliable and responsible manner.
About the Role
The Fleet Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing daily autonomous vehicle (AV) safety operations at our Dallas location. While you will occasionally step in for critical tests or coverage gaps, your primary responsibilities will include workforce planning, shift scheduling, KPI tracking, and cross-departmental coordination. You will play a key role in achieving production targets, upholding a strong safety record, and fostering a high-performance culture among our drivers.
What You'll Do
- Team & Shift Management
Create weekly driver schedules, considering skill sets, legal hours-of-service, and vehicle availability. Approve timecards, manage PTO, and arrange backfills for absences.
- Operational KPIs & Continuous Improvement
Establish and monitor key metrics such as disengagements per 100 miles, timely route completions, and incident response times. Conduct daily stand-ups and post-shift debriefs; share performance dashboards.
- Safety & Compliance Oversight
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, DMV regulations, and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Resource & Fleet Coordination
Collaborate with the central operations team to align vehicle maintenance, software update schedules, and test-route assignments. Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and remote assistance teams to prioritize testing objectives.
- Hands-On Driving (as needed)
Take the wheel for critical tests or to fill coverage gaps.
