This position supports the assembly, integration, and testing of satellite mechanism subsystems. Daily work involves hands-on tasks with deployment systems, actuators, hinges, latches, and other precision-moving parts. Role overview The Metrology Technician (Dayshift, Monday through Thursday) will work at the satellite production facility in Midland, TX. This position centers on dimensional inspection and validation of complex satellite assemblies and precision components. The work plays a key role in supporting the quality and reliability of advanced space hardware. What you will do Inspect and validate satellite assemblies and precision parts for dimensional accuracy Ensure products meet engineering specifications and aerospace standards Operate advanced measurement equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Laser Trackers, Portable Measurement Arms (Romer Arms), and 3D Laser Scanning systems Document inspection results and contribute to quality assurance processes in a production environment Requirements Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or mechanical assembly is valuable Background in metrology, quality inspection, or related technical fields is a plus Strong attention to detail and comfort working with precision measurement tools Location and relocation This position is based at the Midland, TX satellite production facility. Acting as the Lift Director, this role leads a dedicated team of five riggers, ensuring the safe, compliant, and accurate execution of lifts involving sensitive or high-value equipment. The supervisor collaborates with production, maintenance, engineering, and quality assurance teams to streamline workflows and uphold safety standards across all lifting operations.Key ResponsibilitiesRigging & Lifting Oversight:Act as the Lift Director for the assigned shift.Supervise all rigging and lifting operations involving sensitive or high-value equipment.Review and validate lift plans, load paths, and equipment setups prior to each lift.Ensure compliance with OSHA, ASME, and internal safety procedures.Team Leadership:Lead, mentor, and support a team of five riggers.Assign daily tasks, manage manpower, and ensure operational readiness.Conduct team meetings, pre-lift briefings, and shift safety discussions.Provide performance feedback and assist in employee development.Safety & Compliance:Enforce proper rigging techniques, PPE usage, and lifting protocols.Conduct inspections of rigging equipment, tag out unsafe items, and maintain equipment readiness.Participate in incident reviews and contribute to corrective action planning.Coordination & Communication:Communicate lift requirements, timelines, and risk factors with production and maintenance teams.Collaborate with engineering on lifting needs related to special tooling and sensitive components.Document lift activities, equipment usage, and shift reports for the Rigging/Lifting Manager.Training & Development:Support ongoing training initiatives for team members.
