In this position, you'll provide essential technical leadership in the planning, design, and quality assurance of signing, pavement marking, and traffic signal systems on intricate roadway projects statewide.The perfect candidate will take on the responsibilities of the Engineer of Record, mentoring junior staff, liaising with FDOT Districts and local agencies, and ensuring compliance with Florida's design standards, safety objectives, and construction requirements.We are proud to offer a hybrid work model, allowing you the flexibility to work from any of our Florida offices, which include Tampa, Orlando, Coral Gables, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, or Tallahassee.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the technical lead and/or Engineer of Record for signing, pavement marking, and signalization design on FDOT, Turnpike, and local agency projects.Prepare, review, and seal Signing & Pavement Marking Plans, Signalization Plans, along with associated quantities, details, and specifications.Ensure compliance with: FDOT Design StandardsFDOT Plans Preparation Manual (PPM)FDOT Traffic Engineering Manual (TEM)MUTCD (Florida Edition)FDOT Specifications and Standard PlansLead the creation of: Guide signs, overhead sign structures, cantilever, and truss signsPavement marking layouts, striping, RPMs, and specialty markingsTraffic signal systems including mast arms, span wire, detection, interconnect, and ITS elementsCollaborate with roadway, drainage, lighting, ITS, utilities, and structures disciplines to ensure cohesive and constructible designs.Engage directly with FDOT District staff, Turnpike Enterprise, and local agencies during: Concept developmentDesign reviewsPlans developmentComment resolutionSupport design–build initiatives by formulating technical strategies, scope narratives, and preliminary layouts for signing and signalization.Provide QA/QC oversight, including independent reviews of plans, quantities, and cost estimates.Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers in FDOT standards, best practices, and professional growth.Partake in field reviews, constructability analyses, and post-design support as required.
