The HIRE Me program is an innovative in-school initiative designed to equip high school students with essential work-readiness training, career mentorship, service-learning opportunities, and career exploration experiences. This program serves as a direct pathway to our HIRE summer employment initiative, providing a capstone experience for YouthWorks participants and connecting them with valuable internship and employment opportunities across various sectors including corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As the Youth Program Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating career exploration and work readiness training for high school students participating in the HIRE Me Program. This role requires exemplary leadership skills and the ability to provide strategic direction and quality oversight for in-school activities. You will cultivate strong business relationships that foster internships, job shadowing, and job tours for YouthWorks participants. Additionally, you will monitor and support participant internships, ensuring effective progress toward their goals and providing the necessary skills to identify and pursue their aspirations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Gather comprehensive information about participants to develop personalized plans tailored to their individual needs, informed by partner input and contract specifications.
- Coordinate and compile materials from formal and informal assessments.
- Deliver instructional courses, including the creation of weekly lesson plans and individualized career coaching based on career assessments.
- Conduct ongoing, face-to-face meetings with participants at their service delivery locations to ensure high-quality service delivery, including progress reviews of goals in line with program guidelines.
- Support program operations, including but not limited to program setup, implementation, recruitment, and providing support to staff, participants, and/or volunteers to ensure program objectives are met and resources are available.
- Transport participants and materials/tools necessary to fulfill program requirements.
External Hiring Range: $37,960.00 to $39,478.40 per year
Schedule: Monday to Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), with some evenings and weekends required. Schedule may vary based on department needs.
Travel: Local travel may be required.
