Your Role
We are on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Commercial Lead to spearhead our commercial initiatives. This role involves cultivating high-value partnerships with government entities and major enterprises, primarily satellite primes and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). You will be responsible for overseeing the entire process from opportunity development prior to tender openings, to leading competitive proposals, securing long-term contracts, and driving sustainable account growth. Your expertise in navigating complex, high-stakes negotiations and your ability to foster a results-oriented culture will be pivotal to enhancing NewOrbit’s market presence.
Key Responsibilities
Dual-market ownership: Develop and implement account strategies targeting government agencies and large enterprises; identify key stakeholders, budgets, and decision-making paths; shape requirements ahead of tender announcements.
Tender intelligence & capture: Monitor pipelines across government and enterprise sourcing channels; execute capture strategies, win themes, and competitive pricing analyses; lead bid/no-bid evaluations.
Proposal leadership: Manage the submission process ensuring compliance; coordinate clarifications, best and final offers (BAFO), and oral presentations.
Complex deal negotiation: Finalize agreements related to supply, licensing, and co-development; negotiate intellectual property, warranties, service levels, and milestone payments aligned with technology readiness levels (TRL).
Partnerships & consortia: Structure collaborative efforts with prime contractors, subject matter experts, universities, and testing partners to enhance proposal integrity and delivery confidence.
Forecasting & governance: Maintain a transparent pipeline that includes stage gating, annual contract value (ACV), total contract value (TCV), probability, and cycle metrics; report on risks and mitigation strategies, facilitating executive decision-making forums.
Voice of customer: Integrate market and procurement insights into product roadmaps, qualification timelines, pricing strategies, and make-or-buy decisions.
Compliance & controls: Collaborate with Legal and Compliance on export control regulations (UK/EU/US), information security, and public sector procurement guidelines.
Market presence & pitching: Represent NewOrbit at industry events and engage potential clients through compelling presentations.
