Role Summary
As the Software Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for defining architecture, setting standards, and delivering comprehensive solutions from inception to deployment. This hybrid role combines core platform design in cloud environments (AWS/Azure) with hands-on, client-facing delivery. You will spearhead projects involving Node.js services, AI and agent workflows, and integrations with enterprise systems, ensuring high quality and reliability in all outputs.
Expertise in Cloud and Systems Design, focusing on secure, scalable systems that incorporate networking, autoscaling, and multi-tenant architectures. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code utilizing Terraform or CDK, coupled with strong observability practices using metrics, tracing, logs, and SLOs.
Application Engineering skills, with robust knowledge in Node.js and TypeScript for APIs and services. Experience with PostgreSQL and familiarity with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, or Milvus for retrieval and semantic search.
Experience in orchestrating agentic workflows and retrieval-augmented generation. Knowledge of LangGraph is advantageous.
DevOps and Delivery expertise, embracing solid engineering practices such as CI/CD using GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, automated testing, code reviews, and trunk-based development. Proficient with Docker and modern release management techniques.
Hands-on experience with AI tools, bringing innovative ideas for applying AI in development, testing, data handling, and support.
A strong ownership mentality, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make informed decisions with 80% of the necessary information.
The ability to move quickly without compromising quality, a willingness to learn new technology stacks, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.

Logistics
Total compensation ranges from $240,000 to $400,000.
Base salary is between $160,000 and $250,000, complemented by significant founding equity.
This position requires in-person attendance in the San Francisco Bay Area.
