The Role
As a Senior Product Manager at Watershed, you will play a pivotal role in uniting engineering, design, climate science, and go-to-market strategies under a unified vision. Your mission will be to lead the Methodology team, responsible for developing standard methodologies, datasets, and developer tools essential for transforming raw business data into credible sustainability metrics.
Understanding the intricacies of carbon footprints is crucial; it involves methodologies, emission factors, and reference datasets that convert activity data into emissions figures. Ensuring the accuracy of this process is vital for credible corporate sustainability reporting. The Methodology team at Watershed is the driving force behind maintaining this accuracy across numerous enterprises, with a focus on supporting decarbonization efforts.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with climate scientists, data engineers, verifiers, and standards organizations to determine our product development priorities, emphasizing scientific rigor, customer impact, and scalability.
Your Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap for Watershed’s corporate methodology: establish the vision, strategy, and key performance metrics for our data artifacts including ingestion templates, activity types, external source databases, and reporting queries.
- Manage verifier partnerships: identify, negotiate, and oversee relationships with third-party verification and assurance providers to ensure Watershed’s methodology maintains external trust and complies with evolving audit standards.
- Engage with the open-data and standards ecosystem: develop and sustain relationships with open dataset providers, standards-setting bodies, and industry alliances; evaluate opportunities for adoption, contribution, and collaboration.
