About the Role: As a Project Buyer at imi, you will be an integral part of our project teams, playing a crucial role in the successful execution of large-scale material handling projects. Your responsibilities will include sourcing, purchasing, and coordinating the delivery of essential materials, equipment, and services to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget. You will oversee procurement for 5–6 concurrent projects, expertly balancing cost, schedule, and quality. Collaborating closely with engineering, project management, suppliers, and logistics partners, you will cultivate strong vendor relationships while proactively addressing supply chain challenges. Excited to join us? Read on! Key Responsibilities: Manage procurement for 5–6 active core projects, ensuring alignment with schedules and budgets. Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and project specifications to identify material and service needs. Source and purchase various materials, including conveyor components, mechanical assemblies, structural steel, motors, drives, bearings, belts, rollers, controls, and fabricated parts. Issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts for project scopes. Analyze supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to achieve project objectives. Coordinate logistics and freight for core projects, collaborating with 3PL partners to guarantee timely delivery. Track orders, expedite critical materials, and mitigate supply chain risks proactively. Monitor project budgets to support cost control and budget comparisons. Manage onsite rentals and ensure the proper utilization and off-renting of equipment. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and vendors to address supply or scope changes. Maintain precise procurement records within ERP/MRP systems. Support supplier performance tracking and foster ongoing relationship development.
