The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial operations across Benin and various Francophone African nations, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards. Key responsibilities include managing accounting records, mitigating financial risks, publishing accurate financial statements, and facilitating audits across different jurisdictions. This role demands exceptional strategic planning, leadership, and analytical skills to foster organizational growth through effective financial strategies, robust internal controls, and strategic regional financial planning.
Scope of Coverage
This position will encompass Francophone countries in West and Central Africa, including but not limited to: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Guinea, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Madagascar, Mauritania, Comoros.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and publish precise financial reports for Benin and other Francophone entities.
- Consolidate financial data across multiple jurisdictions following OHADA and IFRS standards.
- Manage cash flow, ensuring prompt collections and vendor payments across countries.
- Coordinate statutory accounting, tax filings, and social security obligations in accordance with local laws.
- Ensure compliance with OHADA accounting standards (SYSCOHADA) and local GAAP.
- Oversee financial administration for local offices.
- Implement and monitor internal controls across multiple entities.
- Prepare income statements, engage in budgeting processes, and support FP&A activities across the group.
- Assess and manage financial risks within diverse regulatory environments.
- Coordinate internal and external audit processes regionally.
- Develop and implement strategies for financial growth and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Certifications: ACCA, ACA, CIMA (international qualification required); local CPA is highly valued.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in finance management, including auditing experience (Big Four or reputable audit firms preferred).
