Essential Qualifications:Reliable and dedicated individual; this is a full-time position. Completion of a dental hygiene certificate program or an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene with a current hygienist license for the state of Virginia. New graduates are welcome!Ability to demonstrate independent thinking and sound judgment. Capacity to implement and interpret operating practices effectively. Teamwork-oriented approach to job responsibilities. Demonstrate initiative, dependability, and punctuality. Attention to detail in performing frequent repetitive tasks. Flexibility to adapt to various work assignments with a positive attitude. Ability to follow instructions and take responsibility for individual actions.

As a Dental Hygienist at Commonwealth Dentistry, you will collaborate closely with our dentists to address the oral health needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient assessments to determine dental conditions and needs through screening procedures, including reviewing medical history and charting.
  • Provide direct patient care following established dental hygienist protocols.
  • Monitor and record patient vital signs.
  • Perform routine treatment procedures, including cleaning and polishing teeth.
  • Take radiographs as necessary for diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Apply sealants and fluorides to protect teeth.
  • Maintain electronic records meticulously.
  • Document patient dental history and address chief complaints.
  • Educate patients on preventive strategies for tooth decay and gum disease through proper diet and oral hygiene.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of instruments.
  • Execute treatment plans as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Communicate treatment plans and associated fees to patients effectively.
  • Act as the primary treatment coordinator.
  • Fulfill ancillary duties as needed.
