About the job

ABOUT US:

Astro Mechanica is a pioneering aerospace firm committed to creating a future defined by rapid, interconnected flight. Our vision is to revolutionize high-speed aviation, making supersonic travel not just a luxury, but a sustainable, accessible option for everyone. We aim to establish on-demand, point-to-point global mobility as the norm, enabling seamless transport of people and goods across the globe. To realize this ambitious goal, we are unifying our cutting-edge airframe and engine technologies, including our unique Duality™ propulsion system, with an innovative flight operations model that positions supersonic transport on par with today's commercial aviation efficiency and affordability. In the short term, we are focused on developing adaptable, high-speed systems to meet the performance requirements of the United States government.

WHO WE ARE:

Our team is made up of enthusiastic engineers who share a commitment to pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology. We pride ourselves on being versatile thinkers with specialized knowledge, operating within a flat organizational structure that prioritizes collaboration and engineering excellence. We prioritize agility, practicality, and a relentless pursuit of high-quality outcomes.

WHO YOU ARE:

As a GNC Engineer, you’re eager to take full ownership of the guidance and control systems for a novel autonomous aircraft. You thrive on working from foundational principles, engaging closely with propulsion, structures, and avionics teams, and making informed trade-offs to achieve flight-ready hardware. Your passion lies in understanding real-world system behaviors, not just theoretical simulations, and you are driven to create control architectures that are robust, verifiable, and flight-ready.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Develop and implement cutting-edge guidance, navigation, and control systems for our innovative products.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary aircraft assessments to shape the overall system architecture.

  • Create 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for analysis and validation processes.

  • Design tools to automate control design, Monte Carlo simulations, and validation efforts.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering colleagues to define control schemes and mechanisms for our products.

  • Support flight and ground testing operations.

  • Conduct thorough post-flight/test reviews, correlating performance data with analyses for ongoing improvement in predictive capabilities.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • A strong background in guidance, navigation, and control engineering.

  • Experience with simulation software and modeling techniques.

  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across disciplines.

  • A passion for aerospace technology and a commitment to excellence.
