Elmhurst University is excited to invite applications for a graduate assistantship for the 2026-2027 academic year, with the possibility of renewal for the 2027-2028 academic year. This position is specifically designed for students pursuing a degree in one of our graduate programs. Applicants must submit an admission application to a degree-granting program at elmhurst.edu/graduatestudies and gain acceptance to be eligible for this assistantship.
Graduate assistants at Elmhurst University may receive a full tuition waiver in exchange for 20 hours of service each week. Additionally, assistants earn a stipend paid bi-weekly to support their educational pursuits. Participation in the assistantship is required during the Fall and Spring terms, with the potential for involvement during January and/or Summer terms as well.
Eligible Graduate Programs: Master of Business Administration; M. A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Stipend: $10,000 per academic year ($1,000 monthly from August to May).
Terms: Fall 2026, January 2027, and Spring 2027; renewable for the 2027-2028 academic year.
Assistantship Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation at Elmhurst University is responsible for an array of administrative and supervisory tasks essential for the effective coordination and management of fitness programming (including intramurals and open gym sessions) and facilities, specifically the Tom Roberts Fitness Center. This role reports directly to the Dean of Students in the Office of Student Involvement.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Tyrrell Fitness Center and Tom Roberts Family Weight Room.
- Maintain daily office hours, Monday through Friday, totaling 20 hours per week, in the Tyrrell Fitness Center.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise all student employees involved in the Campus Recreation program.
- Provide oversight for the Student Manager(s) of the Tyrrell Fitness Center and manage student operations for intramurals and open gym areas.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions for student workers and managers.
- Assist in updating and enforcing policy and procedure compliance.
- Ensure all equipment in the Tyrrell Fitness Center and Tom Roberts Family Weight Room is well-maintained, identifying maintenance needs and coordinating inspections with the Dean of Students biannually.
- Supervise intramural activities and open gym sessions, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants.
