A self-motivated learner who actively seeks and applies feedback for continuous improvement. Required Experience:A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students within urban educational settings (1-2 years preferred). Expertise in STEM, Technology, Engineering, and/or Robotics (2-3 years preferred). A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required before employment commencement; teacher certification is not mandatory.

Uncommon Schools North Star Academy is on the lookout for a passionate Robotics Teacher to inspire and educate high school students in the realm of robotics and technology. The ideal candidate will guide students in utilizing computer systems (including both hardware and software) for programming, data entry, and information processing. Students will learn to assess designs and specifications to guarantee quality while interpreting test results. The Robotics Teacher will support students in programming robotic equipment and testing the performance of various electrical, electronic, mechanical, and integrated systems. Our educators empower students to pursue excellence in STEM disciplines, becoming proficient in their subject matter and fostering an inspiring classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • Create a safe and dynamic learning environment that encourages student engagement in robotics.
  • Facilitate students' understanding of engineering principles and the practical application of technology to design and produce innovative solutions.
  • Deliver an inspiring robotics curriculum that motivates students to become leaders in science and technology.
  • Enhance students’ skills in questioning, modeling, constructing explanations, analyzing data, and conducting interactive labs.
  • Promote student-led inquiries on various scientific topics through lab and project-based tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Science department to set academic and engagement goals.

2. School Culture

  • Foster positive relationships with students, ensuring they feel valued and supported.
  • Engage with families to provide resources that cater to each child’s learning needs.
  • Participate in professional development, mentorship, and coaching opportunities.
  • Contribute to weekly school-wide meetings to promote community values and student success.
  • Work with grade-level teams to establish academic targets and instructional strategies.
