About the job
Join Our Innovative Team
At Infleqtion, we are at the forefront of commercializing quantum technology, creating deployable systems where photonics drives performance, scalability, and reliability. Our dedicated photonics team specializes in the development of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and related optical subsystems that facilitate chip-scale laser sources, modulation, routing, and control for next-generation quantum advancements. We closely collaborate with quantum systems teams as well as external foundry and assembly partners to transform ambitious optical performance goals into manufacturable hardware.
Your Role
We are seeking a Senior Laser & Nonlinear Photonics Engineer to spearhead and execute system-level photonics experiments, particularly focused on laser sources and nonlinear optics modules (such as frequency conversion, parametric processes, and comb generation), and their integration into larger photonic and quantum subsystems.
In this position, you will assume full responsibility for experimental development, covering architecture trades, optical design, hands-on assembly, stabilization/control, measurement automation, performance characterization, and iterative refinement towards reliable prototypes.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who excels in uncertain environments, enjoys being part of a small, dynamic team, and is passionate about tackling challenging problems that lead to significant technological breakthroughs.
Your Impact
- Design, construct, and validate laser and nonlinear photonics subsystems that adhere to rigorous specifications including linewidth, frequency noise, RIN, power, stability, efficiency, size, weight, and reliability.
- Conduct system-level experiments including optical bench setups, fiber-based architectures, free-space coupling, high-speed modulation, and precision frequency control.
- Implement stabilization and control measures such as frequency locks, servo designs, modulation/demodulation strategies, and long-term drift mitigation.
- Establish robust measurement workflows encompassing automation, calibration, and data analysis to expedite iteration and enhance reproducibility.
- Translate experimental insights into engineering specifications for packaging, manufacturability, and productization; engage closely with PIC designers, electronics teams, packaging, and manufacturing partners.
