About the job
The University of Kansas Health System, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is actively searching for a dedicated and innovative full-time academic clinical physician/investigator specializing in geriatric oncology. As part of our expanding team of esteemed physicians and allied health professionals, you will have the opportunity to collaborate across various divisions, including Medical Oncology, Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy, and Geriatrics, as well as work with the University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC), the Center for Survivorship and Patient-Oriented Research (CSPOR), and the Landon Center on Aging (LCOA).
This role will primarily focus on research (75% dedicated to clinical, translational, and laboratory research), with the remainder of your responsibilities involving clinical care and educational contributions. You will play a pivotal role in developing a comprehensive geriatric oncology program and enhancing existing initiatives within KUCC, CSPOR, and LCOA, potentially including the establishment of a T32 training program.
The ideal candidate will have a distinguished record of clinical excellence and research productivity, with a strong focus on securing extramural funding. A passion for graduate and medical education is essential. Candidates should possess significant experience in Hematology, Oncology, or Geriatrics, with proficiency in both inpatient and outpatient settings. A proven history of NIH or similar federal funding and a solid publication record in geriatric oncology will be highly regarded. Preference will be given to those with experience in outpatient geriatric oncology clinics, active R01 or equivalent funding, and a robust research portfolio concentrating on cancer survivorship or accelerated aging. Successful grant writing and research contributions are highly desirable.
