Qualifications:A minimum of 10 years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related field. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong foundational understanding of aircraft systems. Familiarity with FAA Part 23 and 25 regulations. Experience in aircraft systems test planning and execution. Knowledge of turboprop powerplant installation design. Experience with composite airframe design and integration. Proficiency in NX, CATIA, or SolidWorks software. Experience with rapid prototyping of aircraft programs through conceptual and preliminary design stages to production.

Role Overview:

Natilus is looking for a dynamic Aircraft Subsystems Engineering Lead to join our San Diego team. This position involves taking charge of end-to-end systems development, including defining requirements, designing system architecture, and integrating technology across various subsystems such as flight control mechanisms, propulsion, avionics, electrical, and fuel systems. You will supervise trade studies, manage interface controls, ensure compliance, and develop schedules while offering technical guidance and mentorship to our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage technical expertise to design aircraft systems from initial concept through to first flight.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Kona systems design team.
  • Delegate tasks, prioritize projects, and mentor engineers to achieve timely and high-quality results.
  • Maintain close communication and collaboration with the executive leadership team, including the CEO and Head of Engineering.
  • Manage engineering deliverables, identify challenges, and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Lead and contribute to the design and analysis of aircraft systems from concept to production, covering propulsion, fuel, electrical, avionics, and flight controls.
