Quantum computers utilize the principles of quantum mechanics to tackle challenges that are insurmountable for even the most advanced supercomputers or AI technologies. Their transformative capabilities will affect sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and more.
Our innovative architecture is rooted in silicon photonics, leveraging cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing processes in collaboration with partners like GlobalFoundries. This approach allows us to utilize existing high-volume manufacturing techniques, producing billions of chips for telecommunications and consumer electronics. Photonics offers intrinsic benefits for scalability, as photons are resistant to heat and electromagnetic interference, and seamlessly integrate with established cryogenic cooling systems and fiber-optic networks.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced significant government-funded initiatives to develop our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These projects underscore the growing recognition of quantum computing's strategic and economic importance, highlighting the urgency for scaling our efforts.
Moreover, PsiQuantum is not only focused on hardware; we also create the algorithms and software necessary to enhance the commercial viability of these systems.
