This contract position centers on advancing Gusto’s legal operations through AI. The Legal AI Engineer (Contractor) will join for a fixed term to design, build, and document foundational legal AI systems. The role involves close collaboration with the legal team and cross-functional partners, with guidance from the Senior Manager of Legal Contracting Operations & AI Systems. Once systems are in place, solutions will be handed off to the legal team for ongoing use and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement legal AI infrastructure and workflows based on requirements from legal, legal operations, and cross-functional partners.
- Create clear documentation to support smooth handover and future maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with the legal team, which already uses AI tools such as Claude.
- Transform early-stage experiments into reliable, shared systems and tools.
- Ensure workflows are efficient, measurable, and secure.
