Role Overview
Each project presents unique challenges, and contributors may be tasked with:
- Designing original materials engineering scenarios that replicate real-world engineering workflows;
- Creating computational problems that require Python programming for solving engineering calculations and simulations;
- Ensuring problems are computationally intensive, necessitating numerical methods or iterative solutions;
- Developing challenges involving system design, optimization, and analytical processes;
- Formulating problems rooted in genuine research challenges or practical applications in engineering;
- Validating solutions using Python with standard engineering libraries;
- Clearly documenting problem statements and providing verified, accurate answers.
Candidate Profile
This opportunity is ideal for material scientists and engineers proficient in Python who are open to part-time, non-permanent projects. The ideal candidates will possess:
- A degree in Material Science or related disciplines;
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation, with familiarity in MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other domain-specific libraries considered equivalent;
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience, applicable in applied research or teaching;
- Knowledge of practical engineering constraints and methodologies;
- Excellent written English skills (C1 or higher).

Project Time Commitment
For this role, project tasks are estimated to require 10–20 hours per week during active phases, based on specific project needs. This is an estimate and does not guarantee a fixed workload.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $29 per hour, depending on their expertise and contribution level. Compensation may vary by project based on scope, complexity, and required skills. Please note that other projects on the platform may have different earning potentials.
