About the job
The Role
Join ether.fi as our pioneering part-time Senior Legal Counsel, where you will play a crucial role in shaping our core product offerings: Stake (Liquid Staking), Liquid (DeFi Strategy Vaults), and Cash (our Visa-powered spend card). This position is not just about research; you will collaborate with diverse teams to assess new features in real-time and negotiate impactful commercial agreements.
Commitment: 15–20 Hours / Week (Remote) Experience: 4–5 Years PQE (Law Firm or In-House)
Key Responsibilities
Lead legal evaluations for new features on the ether.fi protocol and ether.fi Cash, expertly navigating the complexities of non-custodial architecture, slashing risks, L2 migrations, and various crypto-related issues across multiple jurisdictions. Serve as the legal point of contact for daily operations, drafting and negotiating a spectrum of agreements, from partner integrations to vendor MSAs, commission agreements, liquidity provider agreements, MOUs, LOIs, and more.
You will also draft and review user-facing terms, update website content with new features or promotions, and ensure compliance with financial promotion regulations (SEC, CFTC, and MiCA) while clearly communicating risks. Address day-to-day employment issues, including immigration matters and employee and contractor agreements.
What You Bring
With 3–4 years of experience in a high-growth fintech or a leading "Tech/Crypto" law firm, you are a self-starter who confidently manages contracts without oversight. Your on-chain fluency enables you to navigate blockchain technology adeptly, explaining the nuances of liquid staking versus traditional deposits to regulators. You possess a builder mindset, proactively seeking solutions and embracing the uncertainties of the evolving regulatory landscape. As a part-time collaborator, you excel at prioritizing tasks to focus on the most impactful contractual elements.
