Educational/Experience Requirements:Currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program. Preferred: Successful completion of the first year of a clinical nursing program, with at least one clinical semester completed. Required License/Certifications:CNA certification through the Maryland Board of Nursing is preferred.

Position Objective:

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in providing high-quality and cost-effective health care for elderly patients in the Acute Care setting. This position involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate care while fostering self-motivation in performing basic nursing tasks. The PCT actively engages in team nursing, completing delegated responsibilities from the registered nurse.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Deliver direct patient care with an emphasis on personal hygiene during morning and evening routines, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
  2. Assist with patient admissions by welcoming them, taking initial weight measurements, recording vital signs, and orienting them to their room and the available equipment.
  3. Facilitate the discharge process by assisting patients with dressing, gathering personal belongings, and ensuring safe transport to the lobby while preparing the room for cleaning.
  4. Participate in collecting patient data, including vital signs and intake/output measurements, while adhering to established policies and procedures; obtain specimens as required.
  5. Identify and report any signs of pain, patient complaints, or significant changes in patient conditions to the assigned nurse.
  6. Contribute to staff orientation by mentoring new employees as requested.
  7. Transport medications as required during patient transfers, following medication security protocols to ensure safety.
  8. Maintain adequate inventory levels of supplies and equipment within the unit.
  9. Transport patients while adhering to established safety protocols.
  10. Process written medical orders according to established guidelines, promptly communicating urgent orders to the healthcare provider.
