We are seeking a dedicated Project-Based Quality Control Engineer to ensure compliance with both Iraqi local engineering codes and international standards within our oil and gas projects. This role involves extensive auditing, supervising, and verifying that Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors meet quality requirements and adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure familiarity with local and international engineering codes, including the Iraqi National Building Code.
- Conduct design and documentation audits.
- Supervise construction and commissioning activities.
- Witness critical tests carried out by EPC contractors.
- Provide expert judgment to resolve technical disputes between EPC and local subcontractors, ensuring alignment with client and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate compliance with stakeholders.
- Regularly report to clients and PMC management, delivering weekly and monthly instrumentation progress updates and technical presentations in project review meetings.
- Maintain quality oversight in Iraqi oil and gas projects, ensuring adherence to international standards such as API, ISO, and ASME, as well as local regulations from the Ministry of Oil Quality Directives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a focus on quality control.
- At least 5 years of quality control experience in the oil and gas sector, with a minimum of 2 years in a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) role.
- Prior experience in Iraqi or Middle Eastern oil and gas projects is essential, including familiarity with local instrumentation suppliers and regulatory workflows.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication with clients and EPC teams.
- Willingness to work on-site in Iraqi oil fields under secure, remote living conditions (accommodation provided).
- Strong conflict-resolution skills to mediate effectively between EPC, local contractors, and authorities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong auditing capabilities to enforce stringent quality standards objectively.
