alphax is hiring a Project Manager to lead commercial electrical construction projects in Center Line, Michigan. This position centers on healthcare and institutional projects, guiding work from preconstruction through closeout. The Project Manager coordinates closely with field teams, general contractors, and multiple internal departments. In-house estimating, BIM, and leadership teams support each project. The goal: deliver projects on schedule, maintain profitability, and keep a steady pipeline of commercial work moving forward.
What you will do
- Oversee commercial electrical projects from planning through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Coordinate field operations, including electricians, foremen, subcontractors, and internal staff across multiple job sites.
- Work directly with general contractors, inspectors, and stakeholders to manage schedules and address challenges as they arise.
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate execution in the field.
- Manage project schedules, change orders, RFIs, and cost tracking throughout each project’s lifecycle.
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams on takeoffs, scope alignment, and project kickoff activities.
- Partner with BIM teams to translate design concepts into actionable field plans and resolve coordination issues.
- Monitor project profitability, identify risks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Maintain thorough project documentation and reporting within internal ERP and project management systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing commercial electrical projects for an electrical contractor.
- Experience managing or supporting projects valued between $3M and $15M or higher is preferred.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycles, including scheduling, change orders, field coordination, and working with general contractors.
- Background in healthcare, hospital, university, or institutional projects is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, AcuBid, or similar estimating or project management software is preferred.
- Direct project ownership or significant execution responsibility is required (not just coordination roles).
- Commercial electrical experience is required; applicants with only general contractor or residential backgrounds will not be considered.
Compensation and benefits
Base salary ranges from $125,000 to $140,000, with potential bonuses. The benefits package includes health insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and additional company-sponsored programs.
