The Quality Inspector – Safety is pivotal in overseeing construction operations to ensure compliance with established quality standards and safety protocols. This role necessitates frequent site inspections, identification of non-conformances, and collaboration with contractors to implement quality and safety measures. Close coordination with the QC Manager and Resident Engineers is essential in upholding the safety, integrity, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify adherence to approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and project specifications.
- Detect and report deficiencies or safety hazards immediately to the QC Manager, initiating corrective actions before work is concealed.
- Ensure the proper completion and closure of Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) and Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) by verifying all necessary documentation and obtaining required signatures.
- Thoroughly review project specifications, drawings, Project Quality Plans (PQP), ITPs, method statements, and QC procedures.
- Oversee the testing and sampling of materials, such as concrete, soil, and steel, ensuring compliance with approved methods and completing all related documentation.
- Monitor contractor practices regarding quality control and safety to ensure compliance with project standards.
- Facilitate daily meetings with the contractor’s Quality Control representative to reinforce adherence to quality management protocols.
- Assist the Construction team in addressing quality and safety-related challenges.
- Support the Quality Manager in preparing for and conducting both internal and external quality audits.
- Prepare and deliver daily QC reports to the QC Manager by 9:00 AM the following day.
- Verify that all testing equipment is calibrated and carries valid certification.
- Maintain detailed logs of WIRs, MIRs, Material Approval Requests (MARs), and other QC documentation.
- Communicate any discrepancies between disciplines to the Resident Engineer and Quality Manager.
