At PsiQuantum, our mission is to pioneer the development of the first truly useful quantum computers, machines that can achieve the remarkable advancements promised by the field. Since our inception in 2016, we have been dedicated to constructing and deploying million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.
Quantum computers leverage the principles of quantum mechanics to solve complex problems that even the most sophisticated supercomputers and AI systems cannot address. Their transformative impact will be felt across various sectors, including energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials science, and more.
Our architecture is rooted in silicon photonics, capitalizing on the advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities, including partnerships with industry leaders like GlobalFoundries. This approach allows us to utilize high-volume production processes that already yield billions of chips for telecommunications and consumer electronics. The inherent advantages of photonics, such as immunity to heat and electromagnetic interference, make it ideal for scaling and integrating with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic systems.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-backed initiatives to establish our first utility-scale quantum computing facilities in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These projects signify a growing acknowledgment of the strategic and economic importance of quantum computing, highlighting the urgency for scaling our efforts.
Additionally, PsiQuantum is committed to developing the necessary algorithms and software to ensure these systems deliver commercial value. Our applications, software, and industry teams collaborate directly with Fortune 500 companies, including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical, to prepare quantum solutions for real-world applications.
