As the Radiological Protection Fleet Manager, you will be instrumental in advancing EDF’s mission towards An Electric Britain, ensuring exemplary radiological protection and safe transport of hazardous materials across our fleet. You will be responsible for establishing policies, standards, and performance metrics while collaborating closely with senior leaders, regulatory bodies, and station teams to implement industry-leading practices throughout our generation facilities.
This position is primarily based at Gloucester Business Park, with the flexibility to work from other locations within the fleet. You will engage in a hybrid work model, spending 2–3 days each week in a local office, along with regular travel to nuclear sites to facilitate ongoing delivery and enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining fleet-wide policies for radiological protection and hazardous goods transport in alignment with regulatory and industry best practices.
- Supervising a dedicated team of Radiation Protection Advisers and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers.
- Promoting standardization, performance assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives across all nuclear facilities.
- Leading peer groups, setting performance indicators, and reporting fleet performance to senior governance bodies.
- Creating and implementing fleet enhancement strategies, including budget and investment management.
- Providing guidance, mentorship, and support to station teams through assessments, evaluations, and benchmarking exercises.
Who You Are
We are seeking a Radiological Protection Fleet Manager who embodies authority, clarity, and integrity, thriving in a rigorously regulated nuclear environment. Do you possess substantial operational expertise and the assertiveness to influence decisions at both fleet and executive levels?
- A current Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) Certificate of Competence is preferable.
- A degree or HND in a relevant discipline may be advantageous.
- Extensive experience in operational radiological protection, preferably within a nuclear power station setting.
- Experience in leading teams, peer groups, or governance programs within a nuclear operational context.
- Strong understanding of UK legislation, Site Licence Conditions, and standards for radiological protection.
- Proven experience in applying radiological safety principles within nuclear facilities.
To qualify for this role, you must meet the criteria for Security Clearance (SC), which generally requires British residency for the past five years.
