POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the general direction of the Charge Nurse, the Staff Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care through the application of professional nursing skills and the nursing process. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for assigned patients while acting as an advocate within the healthcare system. This role demands specialized training and skills to provide care effectively and safely, adhering to legal, ethical, and institutional standards. The RN is also involved in quality improvement initiatives and demonstrates a commitment to the hospital's philosophy and objectives, along with compliance with departmental policies and practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Employs the nursing process to assess, plan, deliver, document, and evaluate patient care.
- Conducts comprehensive assessments and utilizes physiological and psychological knowledge to inform nursing diagnoses and predict outcomes.
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care delivery and ensures that the plan of care aligns with patient goals.
- Provides competent and compassionate nursing care tailored to the individual needs of patients and the population served.
- Regularly evaluates patient progress and maintains effective communication with healthcare team members.
- Facilitates patient and family education based on identified needs to enhance care outcomes.
- Administers medications accurately and monitors for potential interactions or side effects.
- Follows infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Upholds patient rights regarding confidentiality, consent, and privacy.
