About the job

At Material Security, we take application security seriously, setting a high standard for our own systems. We are in search of a Senior Application Security Engineer who embodies the spirit of a 'builder'. In this role, you will not merely identify vulnerabilities; you will write code to eradicate entire classes of bugs.

You will have substantial autonomy in shaping our security culture. Collaborating closely with our engineering teams, you will ensure that we build our products and systems correctly, while also creating internal tools that allow our engineers to innovate rapidly without compromising safety. If you thrive on exploring intricate codebases and constructing scalable security infrastructure, we would love to connect with you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead AppSec Strategy: Take ownership of the comprehensive security of the Material application, from design and threat modeling to deployment.
  • Vulnerability Management: Safeguard our dependency supply chain through direct collaboration with engineering.
  • Build Security Tooling: Create internal automation to identify and prevent abuse patterns, enhancing security workflows (e.g., JIT access, dependency scanning).
  • Code & Architecture Review: Conduct thorough security audits and code reviews for both new and existing product features.
  • Infrastructure Security: Collaborate with the infrastructure team to strengthen our Kubernetes deployments and cloud environments (preferably GCP).
