About the job

Join us as a Senior Architect specializing in the design and execution of hyperscale cloud and colocation data center facilities. We are looking for a licensed architect with extensive experience leading intricate, mission-critical projects from the initial concept stage through to commissioning. In this pivotal role, you will influence the architectural framework of high-performance, secure, and scalable data center environments tailored to the evolving needs of leading cloud and colocation clients.

This position provides the flexibility of working remotely and can be based from various locations across the U. S. where AECOM has an office.

While primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary for client meetings, critical project milestones, on-site collaboration, or other essential business activities. Travel will be scheduled in advance and is expected to be infrequent.

AECOM stands at the forefront of the global data center consulting industry, with a robust presence across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you will collaborate with our international teams on high-profile, fast-paced data center projects for esteemed global clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing role that offers significant opportunities for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architectural design for large-scale hyperscale cloud data center and colocation projects from early concept through construction administration and closeout.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, construction personnel, and external stakeholders to create fully coordinated and integrated design solutions.
  • Create and review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, ensuring adherence to codes, standards, and client design guidelines.
  • Manage coordination with consultants, contractors, and permitting authorities to facilitate project delivery and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the architectural subject matter expert for hyperscale and colocation clients, ensuring operational efficiency, scalability, and reliability in facility design.
  • Mentor and guide junior architects and designers, promoting technical excellence and innovative design.
  • Stay informed of industry best practices and trends in data center design.
  • Support business development, proposal writing, and conceptual architectural designs for new initiatives.
