Responsibilities:Demonstrate the viability of subsystem prototypes and guide designs from initial concept to production readiness. Collaborate with hardware engineers to provide design insights for actuators, sensors, and electrical (ADC/DAC) components. Identify and resolve subsystem anomalies during the integration phase with actionable design recommendations. Create and implement innovative data structures and control/optimization algorithms within a distributed computing environment, adhering to Carbon's code review standards. Work closely with the support team to diagnose and resolve printing and process challenges in the field. Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Controls, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of industry experience. Proficiency in multiple programming languages ranging from prototyping (Python, MATLAB) to production (C++). Experience in implementing closed-loop control systems from prototype to production. Strong background in system identification and digital signal processing. Experience in automating diagnostics, system health checks, GUI tools, calibration, and performance scripting.

Carbon is seeking a skilled Print Algorithm and Controls Engineer to join our Print Department in Redwood City, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and building analysis tools, models, and simulations from the ground up. Responsibilities include optimizing designs for printers, subsystems, or controllers (both feedback and feedforward) as well as modeling physical or chemical processes. This role is cross-disciplinary, integrating algorithm development driven by experimental results from our lab. You'll engage in engineering development tasks such as prototyping, designing, implementing, testing, analyzing, and troubleshooting control systems.

This is an on-site position, requiring presence at our Bay Area headquarters five days a week. Please note that we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
