Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field is preferred.5-8 years of relevant experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and later; familiarity with additional Microsoft database technologies such as SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS is a plus. Expertise in advanced T-SQL programming, performance tuning, and optimization techniques. Experience in software development or scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, C#, Node.js). Proficient in backup/recovery tasks, user administration, and SQL Server installation and configuration. Experience with database environments hosted on AWS. Strong understanding of database replication technologies and performance configurations in clustered environments. Familiarity with Windows Server 2012/2016, Linux, and Sybase ASE 15.

About the job

We are seeking a skilled Senior DevOps Database Developer / Administrator to ensure the continuous availability and optimization of our database infrastructure across production, development, and QA environments, both on-premises and in the cloud. As a key member of the Database Operations Team, you will collaborate closely with delivery teams under the guidance of the Database Operations Manager, providing invaluable technical expertise within a DevOps framework.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in relational database design and development, coupled with strong database administration skills on the SQL Server platform. A deep understanding of SQL Server internals, along with the ability to diagnose issues, propose solutions, and oversee their implementation, is crucial. Familiarity with cloud database technologies, particularly AWS, is preferred. Experience with non-relational databases or other relational platforms such as MySQL or PostgreSQL is advantageous, as is exposure to Agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.

We are looking for a proactive self-starter who can quickly adapt to new skills and environments while managing multiple deliverables effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 24/7 availability of Acadian’s databases for end users, including participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Guide delivery teams to optimize database code for scalability and compliance with standards across all platforms.
  • Implement updates and enhancements to keep database technologies current.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues across all environments.
  • Optimize database and query performance continuously.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the production environment before they impact business operations.
