About the job
Alt is revolutionizing the world of alternative assets, beginning with the $5 billion trading card market. We empower collectors to buy, sell, vault, and finance their cards all in one platform, supported by top-tier investors from Stripe, Coinbase, Seven Seven Six, and renowned athletes like Tom Brady and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Our next major initiative involves implementing real-time pricing at scale, the Alt Value that drives every trade, loan, and product offered on our platform.
We are in search of a Senior Fullstack Engineer who is eager to construct the financial engine of our platform. Your role will extend beyond developing a checkout flow; you will be empowering the liquidity that sustains our marketplace. You will collaborate with a high-impact team responsible for our custom double-entry ledger, payment provider integrations, and key lending products.
If you possess a detail-oriented mindset for backend integrity while maintaining a proactive approach on the frontend, you'll excel in this role.
Your Responsibilities:
- Engineer Financial Integrity: Develop and uphold our custom-built double-entry ledger system to guarantee every cent is accurately tracked across the platform.
- Own Lending Infrastructure: Design and scale our lending products, from defining credit disbursement logic to automating the lifecycle of loan management.
- Architect Integrations: Create and implement robust integrations with payment gateways and banking partners, ensuring 99.99% reliability and seamless reconciliation.
- Own the UX of Money: Develop high-trust user interfaces for payments and lending that simplify complex financial transactions, making them feel transparent and secure.
- Balance Rigor with Speed: Make informed decisions between rapid feature deployment and the uncompromising accuracy needed for financial systems.
- Be a Multiplier: Enhance the team through thorough code reviews, technical documentation, and mentorship.
This Role is Ideal For You If You…
- Are Obsessed with Correctness: You recognize that in payments, “mostly working” equates to failure. You deeply contemplate idempotency, race conditions, and data consistency.
- Think Like a Product Owner: You don’t merely build a “pay button”; you comprehend the entire flow of financial transactions and their implications.
