AECOM’s Water Business Line is looking for a Senior Manager of Program Advisory to lead our Water group in Oakland, California. This esteemed position will oversee the planning, management, and implementation of coastal, riverine, and urban projects aimed at enhancing long-term system resilience for a broad spectrum of public and private clientele. Our resilience initiatives focus on innovative strategies to bolster performance and mitigate hazards within watershed and coastal systems, integrating traditional and nature-based solutions while considering climate, social, and ecological impacts.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge in coastal engineering, water resource management, climate resilience, and sustainable infrastructure. A proven track record of managing intricate, multidisciplinary projects from conception through to construction is essential. This role demands exceptional client relationship management skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across various internal service lines to deliver cohesive solutions. The Senior Manager will engage closely with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private sector partners, to navigate regulatory frameworks and explore funding opportunities. Alongside technical leadership, this position includes significant business development responsibilities, such as nurturing existing client relationships, identifying new prospects, and contributing to the growth of our water practice in California and beyond. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of planners, scientists, and engineers on regional planning projects addressing sea level rise, climate change, and resilient community development.
- Act as Project Manager for coastal, watershed, and water infrastructure initiatives, encompassing facility master plans, sustainability management plans, and climate vulnerability assessments.
- Provide technical oversight and ensure quality control on engineering reports, assessments, studies, and planning documents.
- Develop and implement climate resilience strategies for major infrastructure projects across public and private sectors.
- Identify and advocate for sustainable, nature-based engineering solutions in water, transportation, and coastal infrastructure projects.
- Translate complex climate science into actionable insights for clients, stakeholders, and government partners.
- Foster and manage relationships with clients, regulatory bodies, and community stakeholders throughout project lifecycles to promote climate and resilience initiatives.
