About the job

Flatiron Health is building a connected oncology ecosystem to improve cancer care across the United States. The Clinical Workflows team develops tools within OncoEMR, Flatiron's electronic health record system, to help care teams coordinate patient treatment.

Role overview

The Senior Product Designer will shape clinical tools in OncoEMR, focusing on features that support caregivers throughout the patient journey. This position is based in Flatiron Health’s New York office and centers on improving workflows and usability for oncology care teams.

What you will do

  • Lead and participate in all stages of the design process, from user research and defining product scope to feature implementation.
  • Conduct observations and interviews with healthcare professionals to surface real user needs and understand challenges from multiple perspectives.
  • Develop hypotheses and propose solutions using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Use AI design tools to accelerate prototyping and create clear, actionable design documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and clinical experts to validate interaction designs and gather feedback from stakeholders.
  • Identify edge cases, ensuring complex patient data is represented accurately to maintain user trust and transparency.
  • Present design concepts and facilitate workshops to align team members before development begins.
  • Help shape the quarterly roadmap and objectives by providing strategic design insights.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the design system, supporting new interaction patterns and ensuring consistency across products.

This role works side by side with oncologists, nurses, practice administrators, research coordinators, data scientists, engineers, and fellow designers.
