Quantum computers utilize the principles of quantum mechanics to tackle problems that are beyond the reach of even the most powerful supercomputers and AI systems. Our innovative architecture leverages silicon photonics, capitalizing on advanced semiconductor manufacturing techniques alongside partners like GlobalFoundries. By employing high-volume production methods, we can produce billions of chips for telecommunications and consumer electronics. Photonics presents unique advantages for scalability: photons are unaffected by heat, immune to electromagnetic interference, and can seamlessly integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructures.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-funded initiatives to facilitate the development of our initial utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These projects highlight the increasing acknowledgment of quantum computing as a pivotal technological advancement, and the urgency to scale our efforts.
Furthermore, PsiQuantum is committed to developing the algorithms and software required to unlock the commercial value of these systems.
