Role overview

The Senior Revenue Accountant focuses on ensuring that revenue and cost accounting is accurate and complete, following all relevant accounting standards. This position works closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Technology teams to manage monthly closes, analyze revenue trends, strengthen internal controls, and improve processes. Adaptability, technical accounting expertise, and a collaborative approach are important in this role.

Location and schedule

Relocation to Boston is required for this position. The role follows a hybrid schedule: in-person work is expected Tuesday through Friday, with remote work on Mondays unless a workplace accommodation is approved. Axon emphasizes in-person collaboration to support teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the full order-to-cash process and its impact on revenue recognition and financial reporting.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly analytical reviews to confirm revenue and related accounts are recorded accurately under accounting standards.
  • Prepare and document journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, and related accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Professional Services, Operations, FP&A, and IT to ensure proper accounting treatment and reporting.
  • Assist in designing, enhancing, and maintaining reporting and analytics for revenue and key metrics.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls, including executing SOX controls and documenting processes.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits as needed.
