Qualifications
Job Responsibilities
Technical Direction and Selection
Research and evaluate key features of UE5 (Nanite/Lumen/Substrate, World Partition/HLOD, Niagara, Chaos, PCG/Mass, etc.), in collaboration with art and programming teams to establish technical direction and selection.
Implement rendering and performance solutions that align with large-scale multiplayer mobile games and the League of Legends aesthetic, balancing effects for large units and battlefields while considering cost and performance.
Standards and Norms
Establish and maintain project-level art asset standards to ensure healthy management of processes, tools, and assets.
Pipeline and Tools
Plan end-to-end asset production pipelines, develop process plugins, and integrate CI/CD with version management (Perforce/Git LFS).
Create material/shader presets library, LOD/collision batch processing, texture compression, and packaging templates to enhance production efficiency.
Performance and Metrics
Work with the technical team to define mobile KPIs (frame rate, memory, package size, etc.), utilizing Unreal Insights/Profiler/RenderDoc to identify bottlenecks and drive optimization cycles.
Collaborate with client resources to establish asynchronous loading strategies, supporting stable performance for large maps and expansive battlefields.
Team Building and Management
Build and manage the Technical Art team, setting goals, conducting performance evaluations, fostering skill development, and creating a talent pipeline.
Work with recruitment and art leadership on discipline planning, resource allocation, and outsourced technical oversight (technical packages, delivery, and acceptance).
Cross-Team Collaboration and Governance
Act as a bridge between art and engineering, facilitating the implementation of SOPs, review mechanisms, and risk governance; align with IT/platform/security technical organizations on environment and release processes.
Document and share standards, tools, and knowledge bases, ensuring consistency with other Technical Art leads in the studio.
Qualifications
8+ years of real-time content/game development experience, including 5+ years as a Technical Artist; experience in mobile and cross-platform projects with involvement in at least 1–2 milestone or launch projects.
Deep understanding of 3D mathematics and computer graphics, familiar with real-time rendering, PBR, and mobile adaptation trade-offs.
Proficient in UE4/UE5 (UE5 preferred) production processes and toolchains, skilled in Maya; capable of scripting and shader development (Python, Blueprint, familiar with HLSL/Shader optimization).
Possess systematic standardization and engineering capabilities: able to establish a closed loop from standards → pipeline → tools → metrics, and drive execution within the team.
Hands-on experience in mobile performance optimization: frame time breakdown, memory/texture pool management, package control, Shader variant and Cook time optimization.
Excellent communication and driving skills, able to balance quality and performance to form team consensus; value documentation and knowledge retention.
Fluent in Mandarin and able to read and write technical documents in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale MMO, large unit, or open-world projects, familiar with large-scale scene partitioning, streaming loading, and resource layering.
Proficient in Houdini/PCG procedural production, capable of implementing generation tools and level layout processes.
Experience managing outsourced technical aspects (technical packages, quality standards, and acceptance processes).
Understanding of League of Legends art style and experience with international collaboration.
Portfolio and Materials
Please include 2–3 representative project cases in your portfolio, showcasing your thought process and solutions in technical art workflows (e.g., before-and-after comparisons in performance optimization, process improvements, or tool applications).
Feel free to attach examples of tools or scripts you have developed (whether proprietary or open source), along with a brief explanation of their purpose and approach.
If available, please share summaries of technical standards or processes you have led or contributed to (e.g., naming conventions, texture management processes, LOD/collision setup ideas), without providing any sensitive information from companies or projects.
