Role overview
The Senior Web Engineer will take ownership of major frontend features, focusing on reliability and efficient deployment. This position covers the full lifecycle of web surfaces: from design and rollout to ongoing monitoring and production support. The work sits at the intersection of frontend product development, backend integration, performance tuning, and reliability. Deep experience with React and Next.js is required, especially in building and deploying complex features and resolving production issues. Independent decision-making, technical leadership, and a commitment to raising quality standards are central to this role.
What you will do
- Lead and deliver complex features: Build and launch new web functionality across Polymarket’s core interfaces, balancing speed, quality, architecture, and sustainability.
- Collaborate across technology layers: Work closely with backend engineers to design APIs and data flows, and partner with QA, TPM, product, and design teams to clarify requirements and ensure smooth launches.
- Maintain reliability and manage incidents: Monitor dashboards, alerts, and user feedback to quickly identify and resolve issues. Work with backend and infrastructure teams during incidents to find root causes and implement fixes and preventive measures.
- Improve frontend observability: Develop and refine logging, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and error reporting to give the team clear insights into frontend performance.
- Advance engineering standards: Identify technical debt, propose and implement refactors, and contribute to system design discussions to strengthen frontend architecture.
