Qualifications:HND or equivalent educational qualification. Time-served Electrical Technician or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5-6 years of demonstrable experience in a manufacturing environment with heavy-duty machinery. Electrical Regulation 17th Edition certification is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of electrical maintenance activities including HV, LV, motor control circuits, automation, and instrumentation. Understanding of basic safety requirements and procedures. Familiarity with maintenance methods, tools, and systems. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and process control drawings. A proactive attitude towards embracing change for continuous improvement.

Norit is seeking a dedicated and skilled Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our team in Glasgow. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for executing daily electrical maintenance tasks both in the field and within our workshop, adhering to a rotating shift pattern. Your focus will be on maintaining safety protocols, following established procedures, and ensuring the seamless operation of our electrical systems. As a valued member of our team, you will contribute to our commitment to safety, efficiency, and high-quality standards in all maintenance activities.

This position follows a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, consisting of 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, and 4 days off.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Adhering to all safety protocols, systems, and policies, including the permit-to-work system and risk assessments.
  • Executing plant isolations and issuing permits as authorized.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment post-task completion.
  • Performing troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance on electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and lighting systems.
  • Conducting regular inspections and calibrations to proactively identify equipment issues.
  • Participating in root cause analysis of plant issues and contributing to corrective measures.
  • Utilizing maintenance software for work requests and updating equipment histories.
  • Collaborating with various departments to coordinate repairs and inspections.
  • Ensuring effective shift handovers and completing shift reports.
  • Engaging in training to enhance skills and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
