Position Overview – Software Engineering Track
As a Research Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and fortifying our codebase, tools, and distributed services that empower our scientists to train and deploy frontier-scale models. Prior experience in machine learning is not a prerequisite; what is essential is your ability to write clean, reliable, and scalable code.
You will collaborate with our Platform Research Engineers team to create and maintain shared development tools, evaluation and data pipelines, training frameworks, cluster tooling, and CI/CD processes.
Location: Paris / London (hybrid) or remote within the EU/UK with one in-person meeting per month.
Key Responsibilities
• Facilitate research by managing the intricate components of large-scale pipelines and delivering robust internal tools.
• Bridge the gap between research and product: develop clean APIs, automate model deployments, and present real-time metrics.
• Write high-quality, well-tested Python and systems code; enforce best practices in code reviews, CI, and observability.
• Design and optimize distributed services (Kubernetes / SLURM, handling thousands of GPU jobs).
• Prototype tools (CLI, dashboards) and refine them into stable, shared libraries.
