About the job

At SpaceX, we believe that a future where humanity explores the stars is far more thrilling than one where we remain grounded. Currently, we are pioneering the technologies needed to make this vision a reality, with the ultimate objective of establishing human life on Mars.

Senior Silicon Photonics Design Engineer (Silicon Engineering)

SpaceX is utilizing our extensive experience in rocket and spacecraft development to roll out Starlink, the most sophisticated broadband internet system in the world. Starlink consists of the largest satellite constellation globally, providing fast and reliable internet access to millions of users around the world. We are responsible for designing, building, testing, and operating every component of the system, thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes, and the software that integrates everything. We are just beginning to explore the vast potential of Starlink's global impact and are searching for top-tier engineers to maximize its utility for communities and businesses worldwide.

We are on the lookout for a dynamic, proactive, and intellectually curious photonics design engineer to join our elite cross-disciplinary teams (including systems, firmware, architecture, design, validation, and product engineering). In this role, you will develop state-of-the-art next-generation Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for deployment in both space and terrestrial infrastructures. These advanced chips will enable connectivity in areas that have previously lacked availability, affordability, or reliability. Join us in delivering innovative solutions that will enhance the performance and capabilities of the Starlink network.

About SpaceX

SpaceX is at the forefront of aerospace innovation, driven by a mission to revolutionize space travel and ultimately establish human life on other planets. Our commitment to excellence and our pioneering spirit have led us to develop groundbreaking technologies such as Starlink, which aims to provide high-speed internet access to every corner of the globe. Join us as we redefine what is possible in space exploration and connectivity.
